The Shrine, the groundbreaking legendary project inspired by Fela Kuti’s Lagos club is London’s biggest Afrocentric club night and has promoted new, emerging and established acts from a wide range of cultures including Orishas, Daara J, Tinariwen. They have been trend leaders of Afrocentric music in London as well as tha global music scene
The Shrine,Synchro System [The Shrines Live band ] has toured extensively across the UK and countries induding Denmark. France and with support of the British Council to Ugada, Estonia, Romania, Bulgaria, Berlin, Finland, Russia and Venezuela.
Tha guest musicians for its Shanghai performance are Tunde Jegede and Wali Cham, both acclaimed Kora players. Young erHu player Zhao Lei from Shanghai will contribute his presentation of folk Chinse music to the fabulous party of music.
Tunde Jegede is a multi-instrumentalist who has worked across several genres, including Classical, Hip Hop, West African music and New Age He plays the Kora (the west african21 string Harp luta). piano, cello, bass and is an accomplished percussionist Tunde has been commis national orchestras including: The Royal PHilharmonic Orchestra, Viva Sinfonia, The National Orchestra of Belgium, The Prince Klaus Foundation of The Netherlands. Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and many more.He has written and composed three Opera's and produced 3 Hip Hop albums for notorious Spoken Word Artist: HKa FiNN. Tunde has released two solo albums: Lamentation & Still Moment. He is currently working on his third solo album entitled: 'Nomad' due in October 2009.
